Sensory journey through Photography for Highway’s smart shop launching

We had hardly heard the word smartshop when we were commissioned to create the visual storytelling and conceptual photography for Highway, a new ecommerce for psychoactive products in Peru.

To address this creative photography project, we had to put prejudices aside and document ourselves about a psychedelic and sensory world that we were completely unaware of. Also we immersed ourselves fully in Peruvian culture.

We were inspired by the magical sensations resulting from the consumption of their products through a visual storytelling focused on the representation of Peruvian landscapes and their folklore; a world full of metaphors and symbolism.

And that’s how we embarked on a journey through the senses … We just had to open the doors of perception!

A glance to Peru through its dreamlike landscapes

Taking the Amazon and other emblematic places of Peru as a reference, we recreate a series of surreal landscapes that will exalt the five senses. Through experimentation with different textures, shapes and saturated colors, we generate a distorted visual language of reality to create environments to another state of consciousness.

Traveling into inner consciousness through magical sensations 

The sensory stimulation produced by the consumption of psychoactive substances is associated with jungle areas where rituals around Ayahuasca take a spiritual sense for self-knowledge. 

Our aesthetic and conceptual approach to set this journey into inner consciousness is achieved through the use of metaphors and different resources; saturated colors, cosmic dust, neon lights… With this, we refer to ideas such as clairvoyance, duality and space in a fanciful way resulting from the consumption of brand’s products.

Discovering Peruvian culture through its folklore

The collective memory of Peru is replete with traditions and legends that explore supernatural phenomena and mystical experiences. For these visual contents, we started from the most popular and attractive to reinterpret them into a psychedelic language. We maintain the essence of Peru with a twist in the art direction, using colorful and even dramatic elements where metallic, liquid and iridescent textures are combined.
